News at The Alley...Nearly Ready for Some FUN!
May 20, 2014

If you received this email, it’s because you signed up to get updates from The Alley!

Things are nearly ready to start hopping here! The last six weeks, since we took over, has been a whirlwind. The construction teams have been SUCH a pleasure to work with. We have had some unexpected surprises and additions to the project that are taking a little more time and effort, but the center will be even better than we had initially planned. The Alley is scheduled to reopen on Friday May 30th, after a ribbon cutting at 10am with the Greater Oakland Business Association. This low-key event is open to the public, but we will have our *Grand Opening Celebration* later in June, as soon as our video arcade company delivers and installs our 20 machines June 16th-19th. We wanted to have everything *complete* before we have our big party!

The details of the construction may be new to you. We’ve completely redone and improved everything, from the bathrooms to the kitchen, the pinsetters and lanes, from the flooring to the ductwork. We are so grateful for the work of all the team members who have put a lot of effort forth to work their piece of the puzzle, and support the others, when they needed a helping hand.

The new bowling equipment is the single biggest improvement. New pinsetters, synthetic bowling lanes and scoring systems will bring more fun back to bowling! The lighting and sound system that is in the process of being installed will create a fun, energized atmosphere for everyone. The two ping pong tables, two pool tables and shuffleboard, will create many more opportunities for family fun. The party room creates a space for the fun to continue for birthdays and special events.

One of the biggest changes in the center, is that it is now fully wheelchair accessible. The floor to the bowling approach is just slightly sloped, and we have added a family bathroom that is also wheelchair accessible.

All Summer Programs Starting Week of June 8th!

For the Adults...
The 7pm summer leagues and clubs are filling up fast, with current bowling teams, and old teams who took a break for a while. The sanctioned leagues are Sunday and Wednesday nights, starting the week of June 8th and finishing the week of August 24th.

Starting the same week, our Tuesday night social club is not a USBC sanctioned league. It will run 8 weeks, the first four weeks we will provide some free instruction and practice before playing two full games. The second four weeks of club games will play three consecutive games, with added fun competitions. The club for the summer can be for learning, just to play, or to brush up skills to join the fall league.

For the Kiddos...
The youth programs will be Mondays at 3:30 and Saturdays at 10:30. The first 4 weeks of bowling, shoe rental, instruction and fun are FREE for them to try out the new place, and see if they like it, for about an hour a week. Then, later in the summer, we will have some more skill building and social programs for great new fun for the kiddos. By fall, the expanded youth leagues will be in full swing!
